Ecología Para Changemakers' Accessible Course Material Inspires Next Generation of Climate Activists

Earth Rising has been a proud supporter of Global Changemakers since 2022 when they launched the first version of Ecology for Changemakers. This course was a comprehensive learning experience designed to help changemakers incorporate sustainable practices and values in their work. Since its release +1700 changemakers have enrolled and launched their own impact initiatives based on ecological and intersectional principles.

The course approaches ecology through a systems perspective and a belief that ecological activism must be grounded in the connections that sustain life. Recognizing the ways we are connected to the life that surrounds us, Global Changemakers is interested in ensuring their coursework is rooted in the regional reality of its students. This led Global Changemakers to identify a need for specialized tools that adapted the principles of the Ecology Course for the Latin American region.

This new course was designed to remove language barriers and provide young changemakers from the Global South with the specific knowledge required to navigate changing landscapes and emerging climate emergencies in their own countries. Notably there are a few key differences in the Spanish version. The course includes lessons relevant to the Latin American context, specifically lessons on  climate justice, UNFCCC participation, migration and indigenous perspectives.

The Ecology for Changemakers Course in Spanish was officially launched on November 1st 2025 and is currently being promoted for enrollment across different schools and organizations in Latin America. Since its release +70 students have enrolled from 22 different countries (17 from Latin America) with most students from El Salvador, Colombia, Peru, Argentina and Mexico. Global Changemakers is in conversation with state education institutions, universities and large organizations and foundations to help spread awareness of the program and boost enrollment.

We are so excited to see the impact this new Spanish language course will have and the many changemakers who will be empowered by the work of Global Changemakers. To see the course or learn more about Global Changemakers visit their website here
