All We Can Save Trains Educators to Support Youth Climate Action
Earth Rising is proud to have supported All We Can Save Project since 2023. All We Can Save started as a book, an anthology of 60 women writers and climate leaders. The anthology combines essays, poetry and art and works to both acknowledge the harm that has been done to the world while also providing hope and resolve for future generations.
From this anthology, came the Climate Wayfinding curriculum and facilitator training. The curriculum and training focuses on preventing burn out and finding avenues for people concerned about the climate crisis to take meaningful action. Specifically, the training offers participants practices for looking inward with care, looking outward with curiosity, and looking forward with courage. Looking inwards welcomes the essential emotions, core motivations, and guiding values that bring people to climate work, reflecting on what insight they provide and discerning what skills participants want to contribute to collective transformation. Looking outwards considers the wide range of climate solutions and accelerators for change while also taking into account the specific context of participants’ communities and needs. Looking forward creates a “climate compass” which serves as a living navigational tool as participants plan next steps to deepen or enliven their climate engagement.
This past year has already seen three in person workshops with one more forthcoming in August. Across these workshops 73 educators have been trained through this approach. These educators are now better equipped with tools to work with their students on climate emotions, just solutions, community building, and more. These trained facilitators will run the program with students on 63 different campuses across the US and Canada, reaching over 1,500 students.
In addition to in-session content, following the workshop, trained facilitators received access to the new Facilitator Toolbox. This toolbox is a rich digital hub for the Climate Wayfinding curriculum.
