Soapbox Project's Dream Sessions Combine Music and Climate Conversations to Build Communities Capable of Change

Earth Rising is proud to support the Soapbox Project’s Dream Sessions. Located in Seattle Washing, these Dream Sessions highlight local artists and host conversations around the kind of future we are building towards. Hosted the first Tuesday of each month, over dinner, through music and conversations, the Soapbox Project is bringing people together to build community and make plans for a more just and sustainable world. 

Arts and music are how people naturally communicate and share stories. When these mediums are brought together, issues that seem insurmountable become intuitive. In between songs, attendees are invited to answer prompted questions and to discuss topics as large as the American Dream and what climate change resilience can look like. 

With funding from Earth Rising, Soapbox trained six new young people to facilitate these Dream Sessions and helped support a musician-in-residence program primarily with queer and BIPOC-fronted artists. An unexpected benefit to this work is that it has promoted young artists in Seattle, helping them get other jobs and bookings in the area and helping to spread the word about the Dream Sessions. 

The Soapbox Project was founded in order to transform climate anxiety into connection, learning and action. Their programing focuses on making progress towards the world they want to live in and creating the necessary community and connections to make such progress not only possible but also joyful and just.
