Powerful Zine from Climate Mental Health Network's Gen Z Advisory Board and Well-Being Resources for Navigating Extreme Weather
The Climate Mental Health Network is made up of community advocates focused on the emotional impacts of climate change. The network serves as a resource hub providing tools, programs and guidance for communities to better understand climate-related emotions and how these feelings influence well-being, on the individual and community level. The network facilitates conversations, centering the voices of youths, to collaboratively develop strategies to manage the emotional toll of the climate crisis.
In 2025 the Climate Mental Health Network facilitated a cohort of Gen Z climate leaders to form the second ever Gen Z Advisory Board. Together the advisor board participated in monthly calls, created a final project in the form of a zine (available to view here) about climate mental health for other Gen Zers, took a mental health first aid course, attended workshops and participated in public events as speakers themselves. Importantly the Climate Mental Health Network, with support from Earth Rising, was able to compensate these youth leaders. This compensation is in recognition of the importance of youth voices and a commitment to valuing all people’s time and labor.
On top of directly supporting the efforts of youth activists, the Climate Mental Health Network has just released new resources to help people navigate the emotional impacts of extreme weather events. These resources are particularly designed to be used as a tool by adults supporting children and youth before and during extreme weather events. The resources include instructions for how to prepare and how to navigate the circumstances of different extreme weather events. We encourage you to look at these resources yourself and to share with others in your network.
The Climate Mental Health Network is doing the important work of recognizing how the climate crisis impacts our well being throughout our mental health. This is particularly important for youth coming of age as the impacts of the climate crisis become increasingly felt. Creating resilient communities is crucial for our well being and our ability to counter the crisis in just and powerful ways.
Earth Rising is proud to share about the important work of The Climate Mental Health Network and to support their efforts towards mental wellbeing. To read more about the Climate Mental Health Network visit their website.
